TRAINING PROGRAMME
STEP-INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY -STEP- l.l.T- KHARAGPUR has rendered training support to the tea management students of DIPS.

Residential training programmes have been organized for DIPS students at STEP-I.I.T. KHARAGPUR campus, where in DIPS students are imparted with basic knowledge in tea growing & tea processing. The expenses of this training programme at STEP-I.I.T. campus have to be borne by the tea management students of DIPS.


AWARD
After successful completion of the training programme such training certificate is issued by I.I.T - KHARAGPUR.
THE TRAINING AT TEA ESTATES
The off campus 4-6 weeks industrial trainings at Tea Estates are organised by the institute.
During the residential training period at the respective tea estates, DIPS tea management students are exposed to the overall functions of a TEA ESTATE. The students are provided with the training backup by the management of the respective TEA ESTATES, by exposing and training them in all of the functional areas of a tea garden viz. Field, Factory, Industrial Relations, Labour Management, Garden Accounts, Garden Administration, Blending, Packaging, etc.

TRAINING AWARD
Awards are conferred by the respective Tea Estates or the Tea Companies to the students who have successfully completed their industrial training. Training completion certificates are issued to the individual DIPS students by the management of respective Tea Estates on successful completion of the programme.
TRAINING EXPERIENCE
Such training certificates awarded by the Tea Estate or Tea company management to DIPS students is a feather in their cap and is a mile stone in a career of budding Tea professional. This practical experience of direct interaction in all the departments of a Tea garden is a must for any Tea professional. DIPS School Of Tea organizes the Tea garden training for it's Tea management students.

PROJECT REPORT
During the off campus training the students are exposed to all the functional areas of a tea garden. The management of the respective Tea Estate equips the student with the necessary working knowledge of all the departments of the Tea Estate. Every student has to prepare and submit PROJECT REPORT in triplicate to the institute. The Board of Studies comprising of experts in tea will evaluate the PROJECT REPORT. The training and subsequent preparation of the project report will be of immense importance in shaping a career of a future Tea professional.

DISSERTATION
During final examination a student has to do dissertation of the project before a board of examiners comprising tea scientists, senior tea executives, educationists, eminent personalities who will evaluate their performance and award merits.


FACTORY VISITS
The course curriculum is being updated and revised regularly in consultation and in terms with the needs of the Tea and allied industries The emphasis is also given on the manufacturing aspects and DIPS students are taken to factories engaged in the manufacturing of Tea machineries wherein they are given the much required first hand exposure of machines used for Tea manufacturing.


PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT
Mere learning and gathering of experience Is not enough. Professionalism and presentation of one's self is the order of the day. In this fiercely competitive world unless one Is equipped with all the etiquettes, smartness and other required attributes. acceptability by the corporate houses is a far cry. DIPS School of Tea gives the much needed stress in preparing the students through mock interview sessions to face and cope with all odds.


GENESIS- A SPECIAL TRAINING COURSE
OPTIONAL FOR TEA MANAGEMENT STUDENTS HELD OUTSIDE TEA MANAGEMENT CLASS HOURS

Genesis is a course that strengthens your power of communication in ENGLISH, teaches you the nuances of SOCIAL GRACES, raises your self-esteem and helps you build a personality you never knew you had.
Genesis makes you learn the Queen's ENGLISH with proper pronunciations, apt phrases, good vocabulary and brings confidence in yourself.
The art of good speaking, fluency, communication, self presentation can only be achieved through such attributes.
Genesis is divided into various modules. For the willing tea management students, in-service personnel this special course is outside the normal tea management classes and the syllabus. Genesis is the ideal course for those who would be interested in an in depth all round executive grooming.
Genesis modules will spread over 2-3 months. Short recitals of some modules.

Module I Conversation. Vocabulary related to topics Pronuncialion Grammar Basic etiquette and manners
Module II Advanced Grammar Advanced Vocabulary Group Discussion Etiquette Entertaining Language skills
Separate course fees is payable for GENESIS Students willing to undergo such sessions may contact the Principal & Secretary for rsgistration and other details. GENESIS will equip a candidate with all the sought alter attributes, confidence required day to day in alt walks of life be if within office or before the society at large.

TRAINING
Training of specified duration will be arranged by DIPRAS in tea gardens in India. All expenses of to and fro travel to the destination by air, train, bus or any other modes of transport or any other expenses will be borne by the student.
Decision of DIPRAS regarding placement of students in any particular tea garden is final and binding on all selected students. No request for change of organization either from the student or his/her guardian will be entertained by the Institute.
All selected students wiil have to make their own arrangement for accommodation at the place of training. The institute will not take any responsibility for arranging accommodation, although all possible assistance will be provided.
If a student discontinues from the training in midway, the institute will not arrange for any alternate training. The institute will not entertain any request in this matter from the student or his/her guardian.
The institute or the Tea Estate management will not accept any liability in respect of any illness, accident or injury fatal or otherwise a student may sustain during training programme or during the classroom training.
The students will abide by all establishment/organization polices, rules and regulations, relating to training. The student will perform any reasonable task requested by the management of Tea Estate/ establishment/organization. Decision of the said authorities regarding placing a student in a particular department is final and binding on the student. No request for change of department or assigned task will be entertained by the Tea Estate management or by the institute.
Prior to departure for industrial training programme, all dues to the institute must be cleared. Any book borrowed from the library should be returned before proceeding for training. The student should collect an authorization letter from the Institute addressed to the concerned establishment/organization for industrial training.
All expenses during Industrial training programme will be borne by the student or his/her guardian.

DIPRAS arranges for campus interviews, interviews at Tea Estates, offices of Tea companies and also assist for placement of successful students in the industry.
DIPS circulates the curriculum vitae of the successful students to various tea estates and tea companies for interviews and selections. DIPS trains the students with the knowledge in tea through ifs in depth training programmes, field visits, factory visits thereby making them ideally suited for the tea industry. Through interview practice sessions they are being trained to prepare and face the interview board with the right approach.
A student once selected In an Interview will not be given another chance by other groups who will come to the campus to take the interview at their suitable place. Students selected in first interview may have to face final interview prior to the joining.
